Delicate Micro-Dissection Preserves Reproductive Organs in 3-Month-Old Infant

Extreme rarity of Hernia Uteri Inguinale in female infant resolved with 100% preservation of ovarian and fallopian structures.

Operating Pediatric SurgeonDr. Raghul M, M.Ch, MS, DNB

An infant female was rushed to the clinic with an acute irreducible groin swelling and inconsolable crying. Clinical and ultrasound evaluations diagnosed Hernia Uteri Inguinale—a condition where embryonic Müllerian duct remnants and the ovary herniate through the canal of Nuck.

The entrapment put the infant at imminent risk of strangulation and permanent ischemic necrosis of the ovary and fallopian tube.

Dr. Raghul executed a high-acuity micro-surgical dissection under optical loupe magnification. The compromised structures were gently freed, untwisted, and carefully evaluated for microvascular refilling.

Once viability was confirmed, the ovary and tube were gently returned to their natural pelvic anatomy, and high ligation of the peritoneal sac was performed. Future reproductive potential was preserved with zero complications.

Clinical Significance & Surgical Milestone

Exceptional anatomical acumen saving critical endocrine and reproductive tissues in early infancy.
